FROG® Maintain - 16 oz. is the bulk-container version of FROG's non-chlorine maintenance shock. Same chemistry, same use case, and same 15-minute reentry as the single-pouch 2 oz version — just packaged as a value-size container that gives you roughly eight shock doses for a standard 250-gallon hot tub instead of one.
The 16 oz container is the smarter buy if you actually use FROG® Maintain on the recommended schedule. Most spa owners shock monthly, plus after heavier use — so a 16 oz container at one 2 oz dose per shock covers roughly 8 months for a typical 250-gallon hot tub. The single-pouch version is great for trying the product, traveling, or as a one-time buy. The bulk container is what you want as your standing supply.
Chemistry-wise it's still chlorine-free MPS-based shock — Potassium Peroxymonosulfate, the same active ingredient as the 2 oz pouch. That means no cyanuric acid added to your water, no chlorine smell after dosing, and a 15-minute reentry time instead of the hours you'd wait after a dichlor shock. The bulk size doesn't change any of that — it just lets you stop reordering single pouches every month.

How do the pre-filled cartridges work?
Each FROG® cartridge comes pre-filled with the right mineral or sanitizer formula — there's nothing to measure or mix. You simply drop or snap the cartridge into its holder or dispenser, set it, and let it do the work as water circulates. When a cartridge is spent, you swap in a fresh one. How often do I replace the cartridges, and do I still need to shock?
Replacement timing depends on the product and your usage — mineral cartridges generally last for months, while sanitizer cartridges are swapped more often (the system's indicator tells you when). You'll still add a periodic shock to keep water freshly oxidized, but typically far less often than a fully manual program requires. Always follow the schedule printed on your specific product's packaging.
