FreshWater Defoamer

Overview

FreshWater Defoamer kills foam in your hot tub on contact. Just shake the bottle, give it 1–2 squirts onto the foaming area while the jets are running, and the bubbles collapse within seconds. The 16 fl oz bottle is formulated with an oil-free silicone compound that breaks foam fast without leaving an oily residue, clogging your filter, or affecting water chemistry — so you can save the soak you were about to give up on and fix the real problem afterward.

Defoamer is a fast fix, not a permanent solution. Hot tub foam is a symptom, not a disease. If foam keeps coming back after every dose of defoamer, your water has an underlying issue — most often a buildup of body oils and lotions, low calcium hardness, or water that's reached the end of its life. Defoamer buys you a clear soak right now. The sections below tell you how to fix the real problem so you don't have to keep using it.

What Causes Foam in a Hot Tub?

Foam forms when surface tension breaks down — and the most common culprits are everyday personal care residues that wash off bathers during use:

  • Body lotion, sunscreen, and tanning products — even small amounts create foam under jet aeration
  • Laundry detergent residue — left over in swimsuits washed at home
  • Body wash, shampoo, and conditioner — rinsed off bathers but not fully removed
  • Hair products and styling sprays — silicone-based products are especially foamy
  • Low calcium hardness — water too "soft" doesn't hold surface tension and foams more easily
  • Aged or saturated water — water near the end of its 3–4 month life can't dissipate organic load and starts foaming

What’s in the Box

  • 1 x FreshWater Defoamer — 16 fl oz bottle with squeeze-cap applicator

Key Features

  • 16 fl oz bottle — typically 100+ doses (one bottle lasts most owners well over a year)
  • Oil-free silicone formula — won't coat your filter, jets, or spa shell
  • Works on contact — foam collapses within seconds of application
  • Won't affect water chemistry — no impact on pH, alkalinity, sanitizer, or hardness
  • Compatible with every sanitizer system — chlorine, bromine, ozone, biguanide, FreshWater Salt System, and ACE Salt System
  • Safe for all spa surfaces — acrylic shells, jets, pillows, and covers

Directions

  1. Shake the bottle well before each use to mix the silicone compound.
  2. With the jets running, apply 1–2 squirts of defoamer directly to the foaming area on the water's surface.
  3. Watch the foam collapse within 5–10 seconds.
  4. Repeat as needed if foam returns during the same soak — but only when foam is actually present. Don't dose preemptively or "for good measure."
  5. If foam keeps coming back, address the underlying cause (see "How to Stop Foam Permanently" below) instead of repeatedly dosing defoamer.

Pro tip — use a spray bottle for better coverage: If you're getting foam across the entire spa surface (rather than just one corner), transfer some defoamer to a small spray bottle and mist it across the surface. The wider distribution drops more bubbles per dose than squeezing the bottle in one spot.
