Description

SpaPure EZ-Enzyme + PhosAway is a concentrated, 2-in-1 liquid formula that does two jobs in one bottle: a natural enzyme cleaner that digests the oils and waste behind scum lines and dirty filters, plus a phosphate remover (PhosAway) that strips out the phosphates fouling your water. It's SpaPure's strongest enzyme concentration, built to make spa maintenance genuinely less work.

The enzyme side keeps your spa naturally cleaner — it eliminates waterline rings, extends filter life, and helps hold pH stable for longer between adjustments. The PhosAway side tackles a problem most owners never think about: phosphates. Phosphates enter from source water, leaves, and bather products, and they're a food source that works against clear water — and critically, they choke salt chlorine generators, dropping a salt cell's output and shortening its life.

Used regularly, this one product reduces how much of everything else you need — cleaner water, cleaner filters, and a salt system that runs at full efficiency.

Pro Tip: If you run a salt water spa, phosphates are the hidden reason a salt cell underperforms. High phosphate levels make a salt chlorine generator work harder to produce the same chlorine, which means weaker sanitizing and a cell that wears out faster. Keeping phosphates down with PhosAway is one of the easiest ways to protect that investment.

What's in the Box
  • 1 x SpaPure EZ-Enzyme + PhosAway (1 pint / 16 fl oz, liquid)
Key Features
  • 2-in-1 formula — combines a natural enzyme cleaner with a phosphate remover
  • SpaPure's strongest enzyme — the most concentrated enzyme formula in the line
  • Eliminates waterline rings — digests the oils and waste that cause scum buildup

  • Keeps filters cleaner — less buildup means fewer cartridge cleanings
  • Helps hold pH stable — maintains steadier balance for longer between adjustments
  • Non-foaming — compatible with all sanitizing and oxidizing systems
How It Works

The formula works on two fronts at once. The enzymes — biological catalysts that digest organic matter — break down the oils, lotions, and bather waste in the water into simpler compounds, so that greasy film never gets a chance to coat your shell or clog the filter. Like all enzymes, they work best in the warm water of a spa, where they're most active.

The PhosAway component binds to dissolved phosphates and converts them into a form your filter can remove. That's why the water may briefly turn cloudy or hazy after a phosphate treatment — that haze is the bound phosphate being pulled out of solution, and it clears as the filter does its work. Once filtered out, those phosphates can no longer feed cloudiness or starve your salt cell.

Pro Tip: Cloudiness or a little foam after dosing isn't a problem — it's the product working. The enzyme and phosphate action briefly lifts material into the water before the filter catches it, so a short bout of haze (or light foam) is your sign it's doing its job. Give it 24–48 hours and let the filter clear it, then rinse the filter to flush the captured phosphates out.

Directions for Use

Never mix different products together in the same bottle or pail. Shake before using. Add this product directly to the spa water with the pump circulating at the lowest setting. Keep pH (7.2–7.4) and alkalinity (80–150 ppm) balanced.

Initial Treatment

  1. Apply 1 ounce per 100 gallons of water, pouring directly into the spa with the pump running.

Weekly Maintenance

  1. Apply 1 to 2 ounces per 500 gallons of water weekly to keep filters and water clean.

Phosphate Reduction

  1. If phosphate levels exceed 1,000 ppb, add 8 ounces per 500 gallons directly to the spa with the pump running (swim spas, double the dose).
  2. If the water becomes cloudy or hazy, that's normal — it clears as the filter removes the suspended particles.
  3. After 48 hours, rinse the filter to remove the captured phosphates from the water.
  4. Retest phosphate levels after one week and retreat if necessary.

After application, avoid superchlorinating (shocking) the water for 24 hours to ensure maximum effectiveness. Rinse filters about once a month with regular use.

Pro Tip: Don't skip the filter rinse after a phosphate treatment. The PhosAway binds phosphates onto the filter, so if you don't rinse the cartridge afterward, you're leaving the captured phosphates sitting in the system. A quick rinse at the 48-hour mark is what actually removes them from your water for good.

Compatibility

SpaPure EZ-Enzyme + PhosAway is compatible with all sanitizing and oxidizing systems — chlorine, bromine, salt/SCG, mineral, and biguanide. It's an especially smart choice for salt water spas, where keeping phosphates low directly protects salt cell performance.

Think of it as the upgraded enzyme option: where Natural Clear is the pure weekly enzyme cleaner, EZ-Enzyme + PhosAway adds phosphate removal to the same enzyme benefits. One important timing note: avoid superchlorinating (shocking) for 24 hours after application, since a high chlorine level breaks the enzyme down before it can finish working. Never mix it with other products in the same bottle or pail; add it directly to the spa water.

SpaPure® Brand FAQs

What is SpaPure, and who makes it?

SpaPure is a line of spa and hot tub water care products from Haviland Pool & Spa, a 100% employee-owned American manufacturer with more than 55 years of pool and spa experience. Haviland's Pool & Spa division began in 1968 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and all SpaPure products are made in the USA.

Is SpaPure formulated specifically for spas, or is it pool chemicals in smaller bottles?

SpaPure is engineered specifically for spas and hot tubs. Spa water is a different challenge from pool water — far less volume, a much higher bather load per gallon, and hotter temperatures that accelerate everything. SpaPure's formulas are concentrated and dosed for that environment rather than scaled-down pool products.

Can I use SpaPure products with my chlorine, bromine, or salt water system?

Yes. SpaPure makes products for chlorine, bromine, and salt/mineral programs, plus balancers, shocks, clarifiers, and specialty treatments that work alongside any of them. Match the sanitizer-specific products to your system, and use the balancers and oxidizers regardless of which sanitizer you run. If you're not sure what fits your setup, a quick water test will point you to the right products.

Why buy SpaPure from an authorized dealer like Leisure Time Inc.?

Buying from an authorized dealer means you get fresh, correctly stored product — spa chemicals degrade with age and poor storage — backed by people who can actually help you use it. Leisure Time Inc. has carried spa water care for decades, and our team can match products to your specific spa and water chemistry. Chemicals sold far below market price on third-party marketplaces are often expired, mishandled, or gray-market, with no support behind them.

Why do some SpaPure products ship ground only and can't be returned by mail?

Certain spa chemicals — chlorine and bromine products, oxidizers, and some acids — are classified as hazardous materials by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Federal regulations require them to ship by ground rather than air and prohibit consumers from mailing them back. Products with this restriction are noted on the product page. If you have unopened chemicals you no longer need, you can return them in person at one of our showrooms or contact us about your options.

How do I know which SpaPure products my spa needs?

Start with a water test. Testing tells you what your water actually needs instead of guessing — which sanitizer level to adjust, whether to balance pH or alkalinity, and when to shock. You can test at home with SpaPure test strips, or bring a water sample to any Leisure Time showroom for free in-store testing and a product recommendation. You can also call us and we'll walk you through it.

About SpaPure®

SpaPure is a spa-specific water care brand made by Haviland Pool & Spa, a 100% employee-owned American company with more than 55 years in pool and spa chemistry. Haviland's Pool & Spa division began in 1968 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as one of the early pioneers of modern pool and spa treatments, and today produces over 100 products across eight in-house brands. Because Haviland is employee-owned through an ESOP, the people who make and stand behind SpaPure have a direct stake in whether your water turns out right.

SpaPure is built specifically for spas and hot tubs — concentrated, fast-acting formulas designed for the small water volumes and high bather loads that make spa water harder to keep balanced than pool water. The line covers the full routine: sanitizing, shock and oxidation, water balance, clarifiers and enzymes, stain and scale control, and salt-system support — all proudly made in the USA.
