Smart Monitoring System

The Smart Monitoring System offers comprehensive water quality diagnostics, measuring and displaying key parameters such as chlorine, salt, and pH levels. Additionally, it keeps track of the Monitoring System Sensor and Salt cartridge life, ensuring efficient maintenance. Users can conveniently access water care readings through the topside control, with updates provided hourly. Furthermore, the system offers valuable feedback and recommendations to effectively manage water chemistry, including chlorine, pH, and salt levels, optimizing the water quality for various applications.

If you want to use the Smart Monitoring System, you must adhere to the following:

  • Do not use FreshWater Mineral Spa Sanitizer or other silver nitrate products.
  • Do not install Ozone.
  • Never use Bromine or MPS products.

Smart Monitoring System - FAQs

Will this work with my hot tub?

The FreshWater IQ Smart Monitoring System is exclusively available for specific series within the Watkins Wellness line of hot tubs. In the Hot Springs line, both the 2024 Highlife and Limelight series are equipped to accommodate the Start-Up Kit installation. Meanwhile, in the Caldera line, the 2024 Utopia and Paradise hot tubs are also prepared to accept the Start-Up Kit, with the exception that the Utopia Series will come standard with the Start-Up Kit included. If you have more questions, you can contact our customer service department and we can help you determine compatibility.

Is Smart Monitoring System compatible with the Hot Spring Spas App / Connected Spa Kit?

No, they are working on next generation IoT solution.

Will logo badge illuminate for smart monitoring system notification?

Yes, Hot Spring logo will illuminate or flash.

Why can we not use FreshWater Mineral Spa Sanitizer (silver)?

The electro-chemical properties of silver can deposit on sensor and cause readings to drift.

Why no Ozone or MPS?

These are oxidizers and will affect true chlorine readings. MPS will self-correct over time once it dissipates in spa water. Ozone must be removed, as it will always impact readings.

Is the salt indicator salt or TDS?

Measuring TDS, that has been baselined to represent the correct salt ranges for FreshWater Salt. Therefore, no numbers are displayed for this indicator.

Will we need a Comm Port Extender (PN 74150)?

Depending on other accessories installed, yes.

Why are other chemicals measurements not displayed (e.g. Alkalinity or Hardness)?

We focused on chlorine and pH. Looking into additional items in the future.

Does smart monitoring system save history of readings?

No, not at this time.

Does the dealer need to install the Smart Monitoring System?

No, simple instructions and graphics are provided for spa owner in the Quick Start Guide.

What do I need to do for spas to support Smart Monitoring System?

Be sure to update spa software using thumb drive. Software update available through our customer service team.

What models work with the FreshWater IQ system?

Hot Spring Highlife & Limelight models are all Smart Monitor System Ready.

Caldera Utopia & Paradise models are all Smart Monitor System Ready.

What if the sensor is dropped in water or gets wet?

Quickly remove the sensor and rise with water, distilled water is preferable. Shake all excess water from the part and place in a bag of rice for 48 hours.

Does shutting down spa (e.g. winterizing) impact sensor life?

No, only active operation affects sensor life. Sensor to be stored in clean and dry state.

Is the FreshWater Salt 10-Day Timer still required?

Yes, the 10-Day Timer is an important function for FreshWater Salt system. Smart monitoring system will indicate high level of chlorine if not addressed, however the FreshWater Salt system will lower output level automatically.

Is FreshWater Start-up Kit required?

Yes, for Hot Spring Limelight and Caldera Paradise series hot tubs.
