Description

Spa Marvel Pump Marvel takes the worst part of owning a hot tub — draining it — and turns it into a quick, hands-off job. It's a water-powered pump: instead of plugging in, it runs on the pressure from your garden hose, so there's no electricity, no cords near the water, and no motor to burn out. Connect a hose, drop it in, and it gets to work.

The payoff is speed. Pump Marvel drains up to 13 times faster than siphoning or letting a tub trickle out through a regular hose, and it can push the discharge water up to 20 feet high — so you can move water up and over the edge of a deck, across a yard, or to a drain that isn't conveniently downhill. What used to be an hours-long chore that you had to babysit becomes a fast drain you can start and walk away from.

It's the natural companion to the rest of the Spa Marvel system at water-change time. Every few months you're draining and refilling anyway — Pump Marvel just makes that step painless, especially when paired with a Spa Marvel Cleanser purge before the drain.

Pro Tip: Because Pump Marvel has no electric motor, there's nothing to burn out if it keeps running after the tub is empty — unlike an electric submersible pump, which can be ruined by running dry. That makes it genuinely walk-away: start the drain, handle something else, and come back when it's done.

  • Nothing to burn out — no electric motor means it can run dry without damage
  • Includes a 12′ expandable 1¼″ discharge hose — ready to use out of the box
  • Accepts a 1½″ pool hose — step up the discharge size for larger jobs

How It Works

Pump Marvel works on a simple, motorless principle: pressurized water from your garden hose flows through the pump and creates suction as it passes, drawing the spa water along with it and pushing the combined flow out through the discharge hose. It's the same physics that lets a fast-moving stream pull other water into it — no electricity, no impeller, no moving parts to fail.

Here's the basic sequence:

  1. A garden hose connects to the pump as the power source
  2. The discharge hose routes to your drain point — up to 20 feet of vertical lift is available
  3. Turning on the hose starts the suction, and spa water begins discharging immediately
  4. The tub empties fast — up to 13× quicker than a passive drain
  5. Shutting off the hose stops the pump — no shutdown sequence, nothing to unplug

Because the pump relies on continuous hose flow to create suction, the water leaving the discharge hose is a mix of your source water and the spa water — that's normal for a water-powered pump and is part of how it moves water so quickly and lifts it so high.

Pro Tip: Plan where the discharge goes before you start. Since the outflow combines your garden-hose water with the spa water, you're moving a real volume of water — aim it at a yard, garden bed, or storm drain that can absorb it, not at a spot near the foundation or anywhere it could pool and flood.

Directions for Use
  1. Connect a garden hose to the pump's inlet.
  2. Attach the discharge hose — the included 12′ expandable 1¼″ hose, or a 1½″ pool hose for larger jobs — and route it to your drain point (up to 20 ft of lift).
  3. Position the pump in the water to be drained, following the package instructions.
  4. Turn on the garden hose. The pressure creates suction and water begins discharging.
  5. Let it run until the tub is empty.
  6. Turn off the garden hose to stop the pump, then disconnect and store.

Care & Storage

  • Drain and dry the hoses before storing
  • Store somewhere protected from freezing
  • Keep the inlet and discharge clear of debris between uses

Pro Tip: Use Pump Marvel for the bulk of the drain, then switch to your spa's built-in drain or a wet/dry vacuum for the last inch the pump can't reach. Getting that final bit of old water out — instead of refilling on top of it — is what keeps your fresh fill genuinely fresh.

Spa Marvel® Brand FAQs

Does Spa Marvel replace my chlorine or bromine?

No. Spa Marvel is a water treatment and conditioner, not a sanitizer. You still need to maintain a chlorine or bromine residual and test your water regularly. What Spa Marvel does is break down the organic matter that feeds bacteria and consumes sanitizer, so most owners find they need considerably less of it to hold their target level. Think of it as making your sanitizer work more efficiently — not replacing it.

Is Spa Marvel really "chemical-free"?

Spa Marvel is an all-natural, enzyme-based formula derived from plant extracts, and it can reduce or eliminate the need for many of the extra chemicals in a traditional routine — clarifiers, defoamers, and pH adjusters among them. But because a registered sanitizer for sensitive skin doesn't exist, you'll still use some chlorine or bromine. Spa Marvel gets you as close to chemical-free as your spa can be, which is the brand's own way of describing it.

How often do I add Spa Marvel, and how much do I use?

One bottle treats a hot tub up to 500 gallons (about 2,000 liters) and lasts up to three months with regular use. At your next water change, simply add a fresh bottle. In a larger swim spa, use one bottle per month.

Can Spa Marvel help with hot tub rash, itching, or sensitive skin?

Many owners with sensitive skin — including those dealing with eczema or psoriasis — report that their water feels gentler and their skin reactions improve after switching to Spa Marvel, because it conditions the water and lets them run a lighter sanitizer load. It isn't a medical treatment, and you should still keep your water properly sanitized, but reducing harsh chemical exposure is often what makes the difference for irritation-prone skin.

Is Spa Marvel compatible with my water care system?

Yes. Spa Marvel is compatible with all hot tubs and every common water care system, including chlorine, bromine, salt systems, ozone, UV, ionizers, biguanides, and lithium. It supplements whatever sanitizer program you already run rather than conflicting with it.

Do I need Spa Marvel Cleanser and Filter Cleaner too?

For the best results, yes — especially at the start. Spa Marvel Cleanser purges biofilm and residue from your plumbing and equipment before your first treatment, which is important on a previously used spa. Spa Marvel Filter Cleaner keeps your cartridge flowing freely, and clean filtration is essential to how the enzymes work. Many owners run the Cleanser at setup and use the Filter Cleaner as part of their ongoing routine.

About Spa Marvel®

Since 1994, The Spa Marvel Company has built its reputation on a simple idea: caring for a hot tub shouldn't mean a cabinet full of harsh chemicals. Spa Marvel's water treatments are enzyme-based, formulated from plant-derived enzymes that break down the organic matter — body oils, lotions, sweat, and other waste — that clouds water, causes scum lines and odors, and quietly consumes your sanitizer. By removing that organic load, Spa Marvel lets the sanitizer you do use work far more efficiently, so most owners maintain their water with considerably less chlorine or bromine.

The flagship product, Spa Marvel Water Treatment & Conditioner, is supported by a focused family of companion products: Spa Marvel Cleanser for purging biofilm and residue from plumbing at setup, and Spa Marvel Filter Cleaner for keeping cartridges flowing freely. The brand also makes Pool Marvel for swimming pools.

What keeps owners loyal is how the water feels and how little it asks of them. Spa Marvel conditions water so it's silky and soft, gentle on skin, hair, and bathing suits — a frequent favorite among people with sensitive skin, eczema, or psoriasis. It helps prevent foam and scum lines, minimizes scale buildup in the plumbing, supports steadier pH and alkalinity, and keeps water clear even for absentee owners who can't tend a spa every week. One bottle treats up to 500 gallons and lasts about three months. It's compatible with every common water care system — chlorine, bromine, salt, ozone, UV, ionizers, biguanides, and lithium — and it's backed by the company's satisfaction guarantee.

Spa Marvel is a treatment and conditioner, not a sanitizer, so it works alongside your existing chlorine or bromine program rather than replacing it. As an authorized Spa Marvel retailer, Leisure Time Inc. ships the full line nationwide, with knowledgeable support and free in-store water testing available at our Idaho showrooms.
