Description

The FROG® @ease Sanitizing System (Floating Model) is the complete starter kit for FROG's most universal water care setup — a floating dispenser that works in any hot tub or spa, regardless of brand. No special port, no built-in holder, no brand-specific fitment required. If you own a hot tub, this works.

The kit pairs both @ease cartridges in one floating dispenser, plus the chemistry you need to start fresh. Drop it in, balance your water, and the system handles the daily sanitizing automatically — releasing minerals and a steady low level of chlorine into the water as it circulates. The dispenser flips over when the SmartChlor® cartridge runs out, giving you a no-guessing visual cue that it's time for a refill.

The chemistry is the proven @ease formula. SmartChlor® is a unique, patented chlorine compound that works only with FROG® minerals. It self-regulates — delivering more free chlorine when your water demands it, and pausing when the level is right. Together with the minerals, the system sanitizes using up to 75% less chlorine than traditional water care, with no harsh chlorine smell, no daily dosing, and no weekly shocking. The minerals also condition the water so it feels silky-soft against your skin — what FROG calls Fresh Mineral Water®.

Why a Floating Model Matters: Other versions of FROG @ease — Bullfrog, Sundance, and In-Line — all require something specific to your spa (a brand-specific holder or a built-in port). The Floating Model needs none of that. If your spa didn't come with a FROG dispenser already built in, or if you want a setup you can move between hot tubs, this is the right version.

  • Ozone compatible — works alongside spas equipped with ozone systems.
How It Works

The Floating Model pairs two cartridges in one dispenser that drifts freely in your spa as the water circulates:

The Mineral Cartridge

FROG® minerals are released into the water as a first line of defense against bacteria. The minerals condition the water and reduce the amount of chlorine needed to keep it clean — they're the reason @ease can run on so little chlorine. A single mineral cartridge typically lasts up to 4 months.

The SmartChlor® Cartridge

SmartChlor® holds a reserve of chlorine and releases it only when the active sanitizer level drops — then pauses once the water is balanced again. This self-regulating action keeps the water at a consistent 0.5–1.0 ppm of free chlorine for weeks, instead of the boom-and-bust cycle of adding chlorine by hand. Each cartridge lasts about 3–4 weeks depending on use.

Killing Bacteria Two Ways

The minerals and SmartChlor® work together — that's the whole point. The minerals provide one mechanism, the chlorine provides another, and the combination is what allows the system to sanitize effectively with so much less chlorine than a conventional spa program. Take away either cartridge and the math stops working.

Pro Tip: Watch for the Flip— As the SmartChlor® cartridge depletes, the floater becomes unbalanced and physically tips over in the water. When you see it flip, that's your cue to swap in a fresh cartridge. No test strips, no guesswork — just a glance at the spa.

Directions for Use
  1. Balance your water first. On a fresh fill, balance pH (7.2–7.8) and total alkalinity before starting the system.
  2. Add @ease Jump Start. Use the included Jump Start packet to quickly bring fresh water up to an effective sanitizer level, per the package directions. The fizzing tells you it's working.
  3. Load the cartridges. Insert the mineral cartridge and the SmartChlor® cartridge into the floating dispenser. Submerge and shake briefly to release any air bubbles before first use.
  4. Float the dispenser. Place it in your spa and keep it in the water at all times while the spa is in use.
  5. Test with the included strips. Check sanitizer and pH a couple of times a week and after heavy use, adjusting as needed.
  6. Watch for the flip. When the floater tips over, replace the SmartChlor® cartridge (typically every 3–4 weeks).
  7. Replace the mineral cartridge every 4 months (or at your next water change).
  8. Shock monthly. Add a monthly oxidizing shock to keep water fresh and clear, following your shock product's label dosing.

Pro Tip: Follow the Label First— Always follow the instructions printed on the @ease dispenser and cartridge packaging — they take precedence over any general guidance. Spa size, bather load, and water source all affect how quickly cartridges are consumed.

If your spa has a built-in FROG @ease In-Line port, or if you own a Bullfrog or Sundance spa with brand-specific @ease cartridges, those versions are sized differently and use a different dispenser. The Floating Model is the right choice for any spa without a brand-specific @ease setup.

Not sure which @ease version you need? If your spa didn't come with a built-in FROG port or holder, this Floating Model is almost certainly the right choice. If you're unsure, our team can help confirm before you order — just reach out.

FROG® Brand FAQs

What makes FROG® different from regular chlorine or bromine?

FROG uses minerals as a first line of defense, which lets it sanitize with a much lower level of chlorine or bromine than traditional systems. Minerals and sanitizer work together to keep water clean two ways at once. The payoff for you is water that feels softer, has little to no chemical smell, and takes far less hands-on maintenance.

What is "Fresh Mineral Water®"?

It's FROG's term for the water its systems create: cleaner, clearer, softer, and easier to maintain. The minerals condition the water and help hold pH steady, while the reduced sanitizer level handles the rest — so you get sparkling water that's gentler on skin, hair, and swimwear than heavily chlorinated water.

Do FROG® cartridges really reduce how much chlorine I use?

Yes. Because the minerals do part of the sanitizing work, FROG® systems need significantly less chlorine or bromine to keep water clean. The @ease line with SmartChlor® Technology, for example, can use a fraction of the chlorine of a conventional hot tub program while still keeping the water properly sanitized.

How do the pre-filled cartridges work?

Each FROG® cartridge comes pre-filled with the right mineral or sanitizer formula — there's nothing to measure or mix. You simply drop or snap the cartridge into its holder or dispenser, set it, and let it do the work as water circulates. When a cartridge is spent, you swap in a fresh one. That's the "no mess, no guess, no stress" approach
FROG® is known for.

Will FROG® products work with my pool, hot tub, or swim spa?

FROG® makes systems for all three, in sizes ranging from small hot tubs to large in-ground pools, so there's almost always a fit. Some products are model-specific (for example, @ease cartridges sized for particular spa brands), so it's worth confirming the right version for your equipment. If you're unsure which FROG® product matches your setup, reach out and we'll help you pin it down.

How often do I replace the cartridges, and do I still need to shock?

Replacement timing depends on the product and your usage — mineral cartridges generally last for months, while sanitizer cartridges are swapped more often (the system's indicator tells you when). You'll still add a periodic shock to keep water freshly oxidized, but typically far less often than a fully manual program requires. Always follow the schedule printed on your specific product's packaging.

About Frog®

For more than 25 years, FROG® has been making pool, hot tub, and swim spa care dramatically simpler — without asking owners to compromise on water quality. Made by King Technology, FROG built its reputation on one patented idea: combine the natural cleaning power of minerals with a low, steady level of sanitizer, so your water stays clean using far less chlorine or bromine than traditional methods.

The result is what FROG calls Fresh Mineral Water® — water that's cleaner because it fights bacteria two ways (minerals plus a low level of sanitizer), clearer because balanced minerals help hold pH steady, and softer because those same minerals condition the water for a gentler feel on your skin. And it's easier, because nearly everything comes in pre-filled, drop-in cartridges. No measuring, no mess, no guesswork.

That convenience-first philosophy runs through the entire FROG lineup — from the SmartChlor®-powered @ease systems for hot tubs and swim spas, to the bromine-based Serene line, to the POOL FROG and Flippin' FROG systems for pools of every size, plus a full range of support chemicals and problem-solvers. Whatever you're sanitizing, there's a FROG product sized for it, and they're all built around the same goal: less time on maintenance, more time enjoying the water.
