Description

SpaPure Clarifier is a concentrated liquid formula that clears cloudy, dull, or hazy spa water by making your filter dramatically more effective. It works by gathering the microscopic particles floating in the water and combining them into larger clumps — particles too small for your filter to catch on their own become big enough for it to trap and remove.

Even with balanced chemistry and a working sanitizer, spa water can turn hazy. The cause is usually a cloud of fine debris — body oils, dead skin, dust, fine minerals — that's individually too small to filter out, so it stays suspended and scatters light, giving the water that milky, lifeless look. A clarifier solves the part that balancing alone can't: it gives the filter something it can actually grab.

Use it as a weekly polish to keep water looking its sharpest, or as a targeted fix when the spa goes cloudy. Either way, it's the difference between water that's merely clean and water that genuinely sparkles.

Pro Tip: A clarifier and a clean filter are a team — one is useless without the other. The clarifier clumps the particles, but it's the filter that removes them, so always start with a clean cartridge. If your water is cloudy and the filter is dirty, clean the filter first; you'll often find the clarifier then clears the water in a single treatment.

Brand

SpaPure®

What's in the Box
  • 1 x SpaPure Clarifier (1 pint / 16 fl oz, liquid)
Key Features
  • Clears cloudy water — tackles the dull, hazy look that balancing alone can't fix
  • Boosts filter efficiency — clumps fine particles into filterable size
  • Concentrated formula — a small dose treats a large volume of water
  • Two ways to use — gentle weekly maintenance, or a stronger dose to clear cloudy water
  • Soak after application — the spa may be used after the product is added
  • Compatible with chlorine, bromine, and biguanide sanitizing systems
How It Works

SpaPure Clarifier is a coagulant: when added to circulating water, it causes the tiny suspended particles that cloud your spa to bind together into larger clusters. Those clusters are then big enough for your filter to capture as the water passes through — so the haze is physically removed from the water rather than just masked.

This is why circulation and a clean filter matter so much: the clarifier does the clumping, but the filter does the removing. Run the pump after dosing to give the water time to cycle through, and the cloudiness clears as the filter collects the clumped debris.

Pro Tip: Be patient and don't over-dose. Add the recommended amount, let it circulate, and give it time — clarifier needs the water to cycle through the filter to work. Dumping in extra won't speed things up and can actually cloud the water further. If the cloudiness isn't fully gone, the label allows a repeat dose after 24 hours.

Directions for Use

Never mix different products together in the same bottle or pail. Add this product directly to the spa water. For reference, 1 capful = 1/2 ounce and 2 capfuls = 1 ounce.

Weekly Maintenance

  1. Turn on the circulation system.
  2. Add 2 ounces per 500 gallons directly to the spa water.
  3. Continue circulating for 30 minutes after application. The spa may be used after application.

To Clarify Cloudy Water

  1. Clean the filter first (see your dealer for cleaning instructions particular to your water and spa).
  2. Turn on the circulation system.
  3. Add 4 ounces per 500 gallons directly to the spa water.
  4. Repeat after 24 hours if the water has still not cleared.

Pro Tip: If cloudy water keeps coming back no matter how much clarifier you add, the clarifier isn't the problem — look upstream. Persistent cloudiness usually points to a fouled filter, out-of-balance water, or a sanitizer that's too low. Clarifier polishes water that's already healthy; it can't compensate for a routine that needs attention.

Compatibility

SpaPure Clarifier is compatible with chlorine, bromine, and biguanide sanitizing systems, so it fits the great majority of spa setups. As a water-polishing additive rather than a sanitizer, it slots into any routine.

It works best as part of a complete approach to clarity: keep your pH and alkalinity balanced, keep the filter clean (pair it with SpaPure Filter Cleaner), and add the clarifier weekly or as needed. Never mix it with other products in the same bottle or pail — add it directly to the spa water. As an accessory product, it can generally be added without waiting on your other chemicals.

SpaPure® Brand FAQs

What is SpaPure, and who makes it?

SpaPure is a line of spa and hot tub water care products from Haviland Pool & Spa, a 100% employee-owned American manufacturer with more than 55 years of pool and spa experience. Haviland's Pool & Spa division began in 1968 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and all SpaPure products are made in the USA.

Is SpaPure formulated specifically for spas, or is it pool chemicals in smaller bottles?

SpaPure is engineered specifically for spas and hot tubs. Spa water is a different challenge from pool water — far less volume, a much higher bather load per gallon, and hotter temperatures that accelerate everything. SpaPure's formulas are concentrated and dosed for that environment rather than scaled-down pool products.

Can I use SpaPure products with my chlorine, bromine, or salt water system?

Yes. SpaPure makes products for chlorine, bromine, and salt/mineral programs, plus balancers, shocks, clarifiers, and specialty treatments that work alongside any of them. Match the sanitizer-specific products to your system, and use the balancers and oxidizers regardless of which sanitizer you run. If you're not sure what fits your setup, a quick water test will point you to the right products.

Why buy SpaPure from an authorized dealer like Leisure Time Inc.?

Buying from an authorized dealer means you get fresh, correctly stored product — spa chemicals degrade with age and poor storage — backed by people who can actually help you use it. Leisure Time Inc. has carried spa water care for decades, and our team can match products to your specific spa and water chemistry. Chemicals sold far below market price on third-party marketplaces are often expired, mishandled, or gray-market, with no support behind them.

Why do some SpaPure products ship ground only and can't be returned by mail?

Certain spa chemicals — chlorine and bromine products, oxidizers, and some acids — are classified as hazardous materials by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Federal regulations require them to ship by ground rather than air and prohibit consumers from mailing them back. Products with this restriction are noted on the product page. If you have unopened chemicals you no longer need, you can return them in person at one of our showrooms or contact us about your options.

How do I know which SpaPure products my spa needs?

Start with a water test. Testing tells you what your water actually needs instead of guessing — which sanitizer level to adjust, whether to balance pH or alkalinity, and when to shock. You can test at home with SpaPure test strips, or bring a water sample to any Leisure Time showroom for free in-store testing and a product recommendation. You can also call us and we'll walk you through it.

About SpaPure®

SpaPure is a spa-specific water care brand made by Haviland Pool & Spa, a 100% employee-owned American company with more than 55 years in pool and spa chemistry. Haviland's Pool & Spa division began in 1968 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as one of the early pioneers of modern pool and spa treatments, and today produces over 100 products across eight in-house brands. Because Haviland is employee-owned through an ESOP, the people who make and stand behind SpaPure have a direct stake in whether your water turns out right.

SpaPure is built specifically for spas and hot tubs — concentrated, fast-acting formulas designed for the small water volumes and high bather loads that make spa water harder to keep balanced than pool water. The line covers the full routine: sanitizing, shock and oxidation, water balance, clarifiers and enzymes, stain and scale control, and salt-system support — all proudly made in the USA.
