pH is a measure of how acidic or basic your water is, on a scale where the spa target sits right around 7.4–7.6. When pH drops below that range, the water becomes acidic and aggressive — it pulls at metal components, irritates skin and eyes, and makes sanitizer behave unpredictably. Total alkalinity is the cushion underneath pH: the higher and more stable your alkalinity, the less your pH bounces around.

SpaGuard pH Increaser is sodium bicarbonate, which raises both numbers at once. Broadcast into circulating water, it dissolves and gently lifts pH back toward the comfortable mid-range while rebuilding total alkalinity so the correction holds. Because it acts as a buffer rather than a harsh swing, it's well suited to routine balancing without the risk of overshooting that comes with stronger, faster-acting chemicals.

Pro Tip: Add pH Increaser in stages, not all at once. Apply, circulate, and retest before adding more. Sneaking up on your target prevents overshooting into high-pH water — which would then need a pH decreaser to fix, leaving you chasing your numbers in both directions.

1. Test your water. If pH is below 7.2, apply according to ALEX Pro recommendations (or your water-test guidance) for the correct dose.
2. Broadcast the product evenly across the surface of the spa with the pump running.
3. Circulate for 30 minutes, then retest pH. Repeat as needed to reach the target range.
