Note: Both sizes are the identical formula — only the bottle quantity differs. Enhanced Shock is a multipurpose shock and oxidizer that works alongside your chlorine or bromine sanitizer, not in place of it. Keep the bottle tightly sealed between uses and store it in a cool, dry place away from other chemicals.

Sanitizing and shocking are two different jobs. Your sanitizer — chlorine or bromine — controls bacteria and keeps the water safe. Shocking oxidizes: it chemically breaks apart the non-living organic waste that sanitizer leaves behind, the body oils and residue that turn water cloudy and smelly over time.

Enhanced Shock attacks that buildup with two oxidizers working in tandem, converting organic contaminants into compounds that gas off or get filtered out. At the same time, its clarifier and flocculant agents bind the smallest suspended particles into clumps large enough for your filter to trap on the next few cycles — which is why the water doesn't just smell cleaner, it visibly clears. The built-in pH buffer keeps the whole process from disturbing your balanced water, so you aren't chasing pH afterward.

Pro Tip: SpaGuard makes two shocks, and they're easy to mix up. Enhanced Shock(this product) is achlorinated multipurpose shock — it adds a measure of chlorine as it oxidizes, which is why you test and wait before re-entry. SpaGuardSpa Shock is the non-chlorine oxidizer. Both clear the water; reach for Enhanced Shock when you want oxidizing power plus a chlorine boost.

1. Test and adjust spa water pH to 7.2–7.6 before applying this product.
2. Apply when the spa is not in use, with the pump running.
3. Broadcast the full treatment dose across the surface of the water at one time. Follow the label dosage for your bottle (generally about 2–3 tablespoons per 500 gallons for routine weekly maintenance).
4. Do not allow undissolved product to settle on bleachable surfaces. In water below 70°F, brush the surface after application to speed dissolving.
5. Before re-entering, test your sanitizer level. Do not re-enter until chlorine reads 5 ppm or less (or bromine 8 ppm or less) — typically about 15 minutes.

Pro Tip: After shocking, leave the cover open for 15–20 minutes with the pump running. This lets the oxidized contaminants gas off instead of getting trapped under the cover, and helps the water clear faster.
