Leisure Time Replenish | Multi-Action Shock

SKU: LTS19

Description

Leisure Time Replenish is a multi-functional dual-action shock and oxidizer formulated specifically for spas and hot tubs. Active chemistry: a powerful combination of 72% potassium monopersulfate (MPS) for non-chlorine oxidation and 15% sodium dichlor for sanitizer-boost chlorine — plus built-in pH buffers and clarifying agents. Unlike single-action shock products that handle either oxidation or sanitization, Replenish does both in one dose, which is exactly what mineral cartridge systems and supplemental-chlorine spas were designed to use.

Replenish exists for a specific category of spa owner: anyone running a mineral cartridge sanitizer system (like the FreshWater Salt System, Spa Frog @ease, or any silver/copper mineral cartridge), or anyone who wants the convenience of "one shock that does everything." Mineral systems work by combining low-level continuous sanitizer release with periodic chlorine boosts — and Replenish is engineered to deliver that combined oxidation + chlorine boost in a single weekly dose. For chlorine-program spas, it's also a strong option as a "do-everything" maintenance shock that handles both organic load and sanitizer residual in one step.

A 2 lb bottle provides approximately 30 weekly maintenance shocks for a typical residential spa — roughly 6 months of weekly use. Replenish is fully soluble, dissolves in seconds with the pump running, has a short 15-minute spa return time, and includes the pH-buffering and clarifying agents that prevent the chemistry swings other shock products can cause.

Pro Tip: Leisure Time makes three different shock products, and they're not interchangeable. Spa 56 is pure chlorine — daily sanitizer plus heavy superchlorination. Renew is pure non-chlorine MPS — weekly oxidation with no chlorine added, 15-minute spa return. Replenish is a hybrid of both — non-chlorine oxidation plus a measured chlorine boost in one dose. Pick based on your sanitizer program: chlorine spa → Spa 56 daily + Renew weekly (or just Spa 56). Bromine or mineral cartridge spa → Renew weekly. Mineral cartridge spa needing chlorine boost → Replenish weekly. Replenish is the right choice when you want both oxidation and sanitizer-boost in one product.

How It Works

Spa water care actually has three separate jobs happening at once. Sanitization — killing bacteria and viruses — is what chlorine, bromine, and mineral systems do. Oxidation — breaking down body oils, sweat, lotions, and the chloramines/bromamines that build up between soaks — is what shock products do. Clarification — keeping water visually sparkling — is what clarifiers do. Most shock products handle one of these jobs well. Replenish is engineered to handle all three in a single product, which is why the formula is more complex than a simple chlorine or MPS shock.

The 72% potassium monopersulfate (MPS) is the same active ingredient as Leisure Time Renew. MPS is a powerful, fast-acting oxidizer that breaks down organic contaminants into harmless byproducts and burns off combined chloramines and bromamines that have built up since the last shock. This is the "non-chlorine" portion of the shock — it works mechanically through oxidation without adding chlorine to the water.

The 15% sodium dichlor is the same active ingredient as Leisure Time Spa 56 — but at a much lower concentration. Its job in Replenish isn't to be a primary sanitizer; it's to deliver a measured chlorine boost during shock. For mineral cartridge systems (which release low continuous levels of silver and copper ions but rely on periodic chlorine top-ups to handle bather load), the dichlor in Replenish provides exactly the chlorine residual the system was designed around — without requiring a separate chlorine shock product. Each 1 oz. dose adds approximately 2 ppm of free chlorine to 300 gallons of water.

The built-in pH buffers prevent the chemistry swings that can happen with unbuffered shocks — particularly important when using a hybrid formula where MPS and dichlor each have slightly different pH impacts. The built-in clarifying agents help newly oxidized particles aggregate so the filter can capture them, restoring water sparkle in the same dose that handles oxidation and sanitation.

Pro Tip: Replenish is not compatible with biguanide sanitizer systems (Baqua Spa, SoftSoak). The 15% dichlor content means it contains chlorine — and chlorine cannot be combined with biguanide chemistry under any circumstances. If you're running a biguanide spa, use a biguanide-specific shock product. For all other sanitizer programs (chlorine, bromine, ozone, mineral, salt-generated chlorine), Replenish is compatible.

Directions for Use

Weekly Maintenance Shock

  1. Turn on the spa's circulation system and remove the cover.
  2. Add 1 to 1½ oz. of Replenish per 300 gallons of spa water (approximately 1.5 oz. for a typical 400-gallon residential spa).
  3. Broadcast the granules uniformly over the surface of the spa water with the pump running.
  4. Continue circulation with the cover off for at least 15 minutes.
  5. Test residual chlorine after circulation. Target re-entry range: 3–4 ppm.
  6. Spa is ready to use 15 minutes after application, once chlorine residual is within range.
  7. Repeat weekly for routine maintenance.

After Heavy Bather Use

  1. Apply Replenish immediately after parties, multiple consecutive soaks, or any session with elevated bather load.
  2. Use the standard 1–1½ oz. per 300 gallons dose.
  3. Heavy bather loads can consume oxidation capacity quickly; an immediate post-use shock prevents the next-day cloudy water that often follows heavy use.

Cloudy or Hazy Water Recovery

  1. For visibly cloudy or dull water, apply Replenish at the standard maintenance dose.
  2. Run circulation with the cover off for 15 minutes.
  3. Most clarity issues resolve within 24 hours of a single proper shock.
  4. If cloudiness persists, address underlying water balance (pH, alkalinity) before re-shocking.

Storage & Handling

  • Store in original container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight
  • Keep tightly closed when not in use — granular oxidizers absorb moisture and lose potency if left open
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets
  • Never mix Replenish with other chemicals in dry form — including chlorine, bromine, biguanide, acids, or other oxidizers. Concentrated mixing can cause violent reactions or fire. Always add directly to spa water.
  • Store separately from acids, oxidizers, and organic materials

Pro Tip: Apply Replenish with the spa coveroffand leave it off for the full 15-minute circulation. The oxidation reaction releases gas that needs to vent out of the spa, not trap into the cover where it can degrade the foam, the underside vinyl, and the headrest pillows over time. This applies to any shock product, but it's especially important with hybrid formulas like Replenish where multiple reactions are happening simultaneously.

Leisure Time® Brand FAQs

Can I use Leisure Time products in any brand of hot tub?

Yes. Leisure Time spa chemicals are formulated to work safely in every major brand of residential hot tub, including Hot Spring, Caldera, Sundance, Jacuzzi, American Whirlpool, Bullfrog, and others. They're also compatible with every common spa shell material — acrylic, vinyl, fiberglass, rotomolded plastic, and stainless steel.

Will Leisure Time chemicals work with my sanitizer system?

The Leisure Time line is built for universal sanitizer compatibility. Products work with chlorine, bromine, ozone, mineral cartridge systems (silver/copper), biguanide systems (Baqua Spa, SoftSoak), and salt-generated chlorine systems like the FreshWater Salt System. Specific product labels will note any exceptions.

Can I mix Leisure Time with pool chemicals or other spa brands?

We don't recommend it. Spa chemistry is sensitive, and mixing brands can lead to unpredictable interactions — cloudiness, foam, sanitizer interference, or staining. Leisure Time products are tested as a complete system; using them together gives you the most predictable results and the simplest weekly routine.

How long do Leisure Time products last in storage?

Most Leisure Time chemicals have a shelf life of 1 to 3 years when stored properly. Keep all spa chemicals in their original containers, sealed tightly, in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight, freezing temperatures, and other chemicals. Liquid products are most sensitive to temperature; granular products are more shelf-stable but should still be kept dry.

Are Leisure Time products safe for septic systems and drainage?

Yes — when spa water is properly diluted and drained according to local regulations, Leisure Time chemicals at residual levels are safe for typical municipal drainage. For homes on septic systems, drain spa water gradually over your lawn or landscape rather than dumping it all into the septic field at once. Always check local ordinances before draining.

How often do I need to drain and refill my spa when using Leisure Time?

Industry guidance is to drain and refill every 3 to 4 months for a typical 400-gallon residential spa, regardless of which chemical brand you use. Heavy use, lots of bathers, or high-temperature soaking can shorten that interval; light use can extend it. Regular use of Leisure Time clarifiers, filter care, and stain & scale products helps maintain water quality between fills, but no chemical regimen replaces a fresh refill on schedule.

About Leisure Time®

For more than 40 years, Leisure Time® has built spa-specific water care chemistry trusted by hot tub manufacturers, dealers, and homeowners across North America. Where pool chemicals are formulated for tens of thousands of gallons of cool, lightly used water, Leisure Time® products are engineered for the opposite extreme: small water volumes, sustained high temperatures, heavy bather loads, and powerful jet circulation. That combination puts dramatically more stress on water chemistry than a swimming pool ever sees, and it's why generic pool chemicals don't perform reliably in a spa.

The Leisure Time® line covers the complete water care picture — sanitization, water balance, clarity, stain and scale prevention, filter care, and spa surface care — and every product is designed to work together as part of the Simple Spa Care Program. That means no surprise interactions, no guesswork about what's compatible with what, and a predictable weekly routine that takes minutes instead of hours. The full Leisure Time® system works with chlorine, bromine, ozone, mineral cartridge, and biguanide sanitizing programs, and is safe for every common spa shell material.

Leisure Time® is manufactured in the USA and is one of the most widely recommended spa chemical brands in the industry — used by Hot Spring, Caldera, Sundance, Jacuzzi, American Whirlpool, Bullfrog, and many other major spa manufacturers as the dealer-recommended water care solution for their tubs.
