The FROG® @ease Mineral Cartridge is the mineral half of the @ease In-Line System — the version of @ease built directly into the spa's filter compartment rather than floating in the water. It's the cartridge that gives FROG's Fresh Mineral Water its name: a slow, steady release of conditioning minerals that work alongside the SmartChlor® cartridge to keep your water clean, clear, and soft using far less chlorine than traditional methods.
The minerals do the heavy lifting that lets the whole system work. They condition the water and provide a first line of defense against bacteria, which is the reason a SmartChlor® cartridge can sanitize on up to 75% less chlorine than a manual program. Without the mineral cartridge in place, you'd need significantly more chlorine to reach the same level of cleanliness — and you'd lose the silky, low-odor feel that makes @ease water noticeably different from a traditionally chlorinated spa.
One mineral cartridge typically lasts up to 4 months, so you'll replace roughly three per year — and you'll go through about four SmartChlor® cartridges in the same period. Keeping a fresh mineral cartridge on hand (or on autoship) is the cheapest insurance against chemistry drift, hard-feeling water, and burning through extra sanitizer.

What makes FROG® different from regular chlorine or bromine?

How do the pre-filled cartridges work?
Each FROG® cartridge comes pre-filled with the right mineral or sanitizer formula — there's nothing to measure or mix. You simply drop or snap the cartridge into its holder or dispenser, set it, and let it do the work as water circulates. When a cartridge is spent, you swap in a fresh one. How often do I replace the cartridges, and do I still need to shock?
Replacement timing depends on the product and your usage — mineral cartridges generally last for months, while sanitizer cartridges are swapped more often (the system's indicator tells you when). You'll still add a periodic shock to keep water freshly oxidized, but typically far less often than a fully manual program requires. Always follow the schedule printed on your specific product's packaging.
