Description

The FROG® @ease Floating Sanitizer System+ for Swim Spas is the complete starter kit for the @ease system custom-built for swim spas. It pairs swim-spa-sized mineral and SmartChlor® cartridges in a floating dispenser with test strips for monitoring — everything you need to begin running FROG @ease on a swim spa up to 3,000 gallons.

Swim spa water care has its own challenges that don't apply to hot tubs. The volume is much bigger (typically 1,500 to 3,000 gallons versus 150–600 for a hot tub), so the chlorine demand is higher and the math is harder. Owners also tend to keep swim spa water far longer between drains — refilling 2,000+ gallons of heated, treated water is a major undertaking — which means CYA buildup from traditional dichlor programs can quietly accumulate to levels that reduce sanitizer effectiveness over time. The @ease swim spa system was built to remove those headaches: minerals plus self-regulating SmartChlor® chlorine, no CYA added, no daily dosing, no weekly shocking.

The chemistry is the same proven @ease formula. SmartChlor® is a unique chlorine compound that works only with FROG® minerals. It self-regulates — delivering more free chlorine when your water demands it, and pausing when the level is right. Paired with the minerals, the system sanitizes using up to 75% less chlorine than traditional water care, with no harsh chlorine smell, no daily testing-and-dosing, and shock treatments needed only once per month.

Why @ease Makes Sense for Swim Spas: Swim spas magnify the workload of traditional water care. More gallons means more chemicals to add by hand, more testing, and more time. A self-regulating system that handles sanitizing automatically is a much bigger time-saver on a swim spa than on a hot tub — exactly because there's more water to manage. The @ease system takes the same approach FROG® perfected on hot tubs and sizes it up for swim spa volume.

What's in the Box
  • 1 x @ease Swim Spa Mineral Cartridge — lasts up to 4 months
  • 1 x @ease Swim Spa SmartChlor® Cartridge (translucent gray housing) — lasts 3–4 weeks depending on use
  • 1 x @ease Test Strips — for checking sanitizer and water balance

Note: This swim spa starter kit includes the cartridges, the floating dispenser, and test strips, but does not include a Jump Start startup product. If you're starting on a fresh water fill, you'll want to bring your water up to an initial sanitizer level using your usual startup approach before the cartridges take over.

Key Features
  • Built for swim spas — cartridges sized specifically for swim spas up to 3,000 gallons, not interchangeable with hot tub cartridges.
  • Up to 75% less chlorine — SmartChlor® Technology uses a fraction of the chlorine of traditional water care.
  • Self-regulating sanitizer — releases chlorine only as your water demands it, holding a steady, gentle level instead of the spikes and dips of manual dosing.
  • Cyanuric acid free — won't contribute to CYA buildup, especially important in swim spas where water sits longer between drains.
  • Shock only once a month — versus the weekly shocking many manual programs require.
  • Translucent SmartChlor® cartridge — you can actually see the SmartChlor® inside.
  • Built-in flip indicator — when the floater tips over, it's time to swap the SmartChlor® cartridge.
  • Ozone compatible — works alongside swim spas equipped with ozone systems.
  • Test strips included — for monitoring sanitizer and water balance from day one.
How It Works

The swim spa @ease system pairs two cartridges in one floating dispenser, each with a distinct job:

The Mineral Cartridge

FROG® minerals are released into the water as a first line of defense against bacteria. The minerals condition the water and reduce the amount of chlorine needed to keep it clean — they're the reason @ease can run on so little chlorine. A single mineral cartridge typically lasts up to 4 months.

The SmartChlor® Cartridge

SmartChlor® holds a reserve of chlorine in a translucent gray housing (so you can see it work). It releases chlorine only when the active sanitizer level drops, then pauses when the level is right. The self-regulating action keeps a consistent, low free chlorine level for 3–4 weeks per cartridge — instead of the boom-and-bust cycle of adding chlorine by hand to a 2,000+ gallon spa.

Getting Started on a Swim Spa

On a fresh fill, balance your water (pH 7.2–7.8 and alkalinity in range), bring sanitizer up to an initial level using your usual startup product, then load both cartridges into the floating dispenser and drop it in the swim spa. The dispenser circulates with the water, distributing minerals and sanitizer evenly. The included test strips let you confirm everything's on track. From there, swap the SmartChlor® every few weeks (when the floater flips), the mineral cartridge every 4 months, and add a monthly shock dose.

Pro Tip: Watch for the Flip— As the SmartChlor® cartridge depletes, the floater becomes unbalanced and physically tips over in the water. When you see it flip — even from across the room — that's your cue to swap in a fresh cartridge. The translucent housing also lets you eyeball remaining SmartChlor® at a glance.

Directions for Use
  1. Balance your water first. On a fresh fill, balance pH (7.2–7.8) and total alkalinity before starting the system.
  2. Bring sanitizer up to an initial level. Use your usual startup product (such as a chlorine shock) to establish a working sanitizer level in fresh water. Allow chlorine to dissipate to safe soaking levels before continuing.
  3. Load the cartridges. Insert the swim spa mineral cartridge and the swim spa SmartChlor® cartridge into the floating dispenser. Submerge briefly and shake to release any air bubbles.
  4. Float the dispenser. Place it in your swim spa and keep it in the water at all times while the spa is in use.
  5. Test with the included strips. Check sanitizer and pH a couple of times a week and after heavy use, adjusting as needed.
  6. Watch for the flip. When the floater tips over, replace the SmartChlor® cartridge (typically every 3–4 weeks).
  7. Replace the mineral cartridge every 4 months.
  8. Shock monthly. Add a monthly oxidizing shock to keep water fresh and clear, following your shock product's label dosing.

Pro Tip: Follow the Label First— Always follow the instructions printed on the @ease swim spa dispenser and cartridge packaging — they take precedence over any general guidance. Swim spa size, bather load, and water source all affect how quickly cartridges are consumed.

This system is not the right fit for hot tubs (universal floating, Bullfrog, Sundance, or In-Line) — those use smaller, hot-tub-specific cartridges. Swim spa cartridges are larger and are not interchangeable with hot tub versions.

Not sure if you have a swim spa or a large hot tub? Swim spas generally have a swim current or jets running lengthwise for exercise, and run 1,500 gallons or more. If your spa is closer to 400–600 gallons and lacks a swim current, it's a hot tub and you'll want one of the hot tub @ease starter systems instead. Our team can help you confirm before you order.

FROG® Brand FAQs

What makes FROG® different from regular chlorine or bromine?

FROG uses minerals as a first line of defense, which lets it sanitize with a much lower level of chlorine or bromine than traditional systems. Minerals and sanitizer work together to keep water clean two ways at once. The payoff for you is water that feels softer, has little to no chemical smell, and takes far less hands-on maintenance.

What is "Fresh Mineral Water®"?

It's FROG's term for the water its systems create: cleaner, clearer, softer, and easier to maintain. The minerals condition the water and help hold pH steady, while the reduced sanitizer level handles the rest — so you get sparkling water that's gentler on skin, hair, and swimwear than heavily chlorinated water.

Do FROG® cartridges really reduce how much chlorine I use?

Yes. Because the minerals do part of the sanitizing work, FROG® systems need significantly less chlorine or bromine to keep water clean. The @ease line with SmartChlor® Technology, for example, can use a fraction of the chlorine of a conventional hot tub program while still keeping the water properly sanitized.

How do the pre-filled cartridges work?

Each FROG® cartridge comes pre-filled with the right mineral or sanitizer formula — there's nothing to measure or mix. You simply drop or snap the cartridge into its holder or dispenser, set it, and let it do the work as water circulates. When a cartridge is spent, you swap in a fresh one. That's the "no mess, no guess, no stress" approach
FROG® is known for.

Will FROG® products work with my pool, hot tub, or swim spa?

FROG® makes systems for all three, in sizes ranging from small hot tubs to large in-ground pools, so there's almost always a fit. Some products are model-specific (for example, @ease cartridges sized for particular spa brands), so it's worth confirming the right version for your equipment. If you're unsure which FROG® product matches your setup, reach out and we'll help you pin it down.

How often do I replace the cartridges, and do I still need to shock?

Replacement timing depends on the product and your usage — mineral cartridges generally last for months, while sanitizer cartridges are swapped more often (the system's indicator tells you when). You'll still add a periodic shock to keep water freshly oxidized, but typically far less often than a fully manual program requires. Always follow the schedule printed on your specific product's packaging.

About Frog®

For more than 25 years, FROG® has been making pool, hot tub, and swim spa care dramatically simpler — without asking owners to compromise on water quality. Made by King Technology, FROG built its reputation on one patented idea: combine the natural cleaning power of minerals with a low, steady level of sanitizer, so your water stays clean using far less chlorine or bromine than traditional methods.

The result is what FROG calls Fresh Mineral Water® — water that's cleaner because it fights bacteria two ways (minerals plus a low level of sanitizer), clearer because balanced minerals help hold pH steady, and softer because those same minerals condition the water for a gentler feel on your skin. And it's easier, because nearly everything comes in pre-filled, drop-in cartridges. No measuring, no mess, no guesswork.

That convenience-first philosophy runs through the entire FROG lineup — from the SmartChlor®-powered @ease systems for hot tubs and swim spas, to the bromine-based Serene line, to the POOL FROG and Flippin' FROG systems for pools of every size, plus a full range of support chemicals and problem-solvers. Whatever you're sanitizing, there's a FROG product sized for it, and they're all built around the same goal: less time on maintenance, more time enjoying the water.
