The second ingredient, alum, is a clarifier. As the tab dissolves, the alum coats the filter cartridge and acts like a fine net, grabbing hold of the microscopic particles that would otherwise slip through and cloud the water. So a single tab both sanitizes and clarifies — keeping the water safe and crystal clear at once. Because the clarifier works by coating the cartridge, keeping that cartridge clean is key to sustained performance.

1. Apply 1 tab per up to 600 gallons of spa water on a weekly basis to maintain a free chlorine residual of 3–5 ppm (the label provides the range for your spa's volume, roughly 300–600 gallons per tab).
2. Place the tab directly in the filter compartment — these tabs are designed to be applied there, where the clarifying component can coat the cartridge.
3. Chemically clean the filter cartridge regularly so it keeps capturing contaminants effectively.
4. Test your water and re-dose weekly to maintain the 3–5 ppm range.
