Description

The FROG® @ease SmartChlor® In-Line Kit is the complete starter package for the @ease In-Line System — the version of @ease that snaps directly into a port built into your spa's filter area rather than floating on the water. It includes both cartridges you need to start sanitizing right away: a mineral cartridge and a SmartChlor® cartridge, ready to drop into a compatible In-Line dispenser.

If your spa came from the factory with an In-Line @ease port (a small cap, often near the filter compartment), this is the kit that brings it to life. Open the cap, snap in the cartridges, close it up, and you're done. From there, FROG handles the daily sanitizing work — releasing minerals and a low, self-regulating level of chlorine into the water as it circulates, automatically and continuously.

The chemistry is purpose-built: SmartChlor® is a unique chlorine compound that works only with FROG® minerals. It self-regulates, delivering more free chlorine when your water demands it and pausing when the level is right. Together with the minerals, it sanitizes using up to 75% less chlorine than traditional water care, with no harsh chlorine smell, no daily dosing, and no weekly shocking.

Why an In-Line System Matters: A built-in In-Line port is hidden, clean-looking, and out of the way — nothing floating in your spa for bathers to bump into. The cartridges sit inside the filter compartment, water flows through them on every circulation cycle, and the only thing you do is swap cartridges on their schedule. If your spa has the port, the In-Line approach is the most invisible way to run FROG @ease.

What's in the Box
  • 1 x FROG @ease Mineral Cartridge — lasts up to 4 months
  • 1 x FROG @ease SmartChlor® Cartridge — lasts 3–4 weeks depending on use
  • 1 x @ease Jump Start — startup product to bring fresh water up to sanitizer level fast
  • 1 x @ease Test Strips — for checking sanitizer and water balance

Note: This kit is the complete starter package — cartridges, Jump Start, and test strips. It requires a compatible spa with the FROG @ease In-Line System already built in. If your spa doesn't have the In-Line port, the floating @ease system is the alternative.

Key Features
  • Complete starter package — both cartridges plus Jump Start and test strips, everything a new owner needs to begin.
  • Up to 75% less chlorine — SmartChlor® Technology uses a fraction of the chlorine of traditional water care, with no chlorine smell and no fading swimwear.
  • Self-regulating sanitizer — releases chlorine only as your water demands it, holding a steady, gentle level instead of the spikes and dips of manual dosing.
  • No floater in the water — the In-Line cartridges sit out of sight in the filter compartment.
  • Shock only once a month — versus the weekly shocking many manual programs require.
  • Mineral-enhanced water — FROG® minerals work alongside the chlorine to keep water cleaner, clearer, and noticeably softer on skin.
  • Time-released for spas up to ~600 gallons — sized for the demands of a typical residential hot tub.
How It Works

The In-Line system pairs two cartridges, each with a distinct job, both snapped into the spa's built-in @ease port:

The Mineral Cartridge

FROG® minerals are released into the water as a first line of defense against bacteria. The minerals condition the water and reduce the amount of chlorine needed to keep it clean — they're the reason @ease can run on so little chlorine. A single mineral cartridge typically lasts up to 4 months.

The SmartChlor® Cartridge

SmartChlor® holds a reserve of chlorine and releases it only when the active sanitizer level drops — then pauses once the water is balanced again. This self-regulating action keeps a consistent, low sanitizer level instead of the boom-and-bust cycle of adding chlorine by hand. Each cartridge lasts about 3–4 weeks depending on use.

Getting Started

You'll open the cap on your spa's built-in In-Line port, snap both cartridges into the holder, and close it back up. From there, water circulates through the cartridges during normal filtration cycles and the system sanitizes automatically. You'll typically swap several SmartChlor® cartridges before the mineral cartridge is spent — keep replacements on hand and the system is genuinely hands-off.

Pro Tip: Mark Your Install Date— A felt-tip on the cartridge body noting the install date takes ten seconds and saves you guessing later. With one cartridge running 3–4 weeks and the other up to 4 months, the dates drift apart over the year, so a quick note keeps the schedule straight.

Directions for Use
  1. Balance your water first. On a fresh fill, balance pH (7.2–7.8) and total alkalinity before starting the system.
  2. Add @ease Jump Start. Use the included Jump Start to quickly bring fresh water up to an effective sanitizer level, per the package directions.
  3. Open the In-Line cap. Locate the FROG @ease In-Line port on your spa (typically near the filter compartment) and unscrew the cap.
  4. Snap in both cartridges. Insert the mineral cartridge and the SmartChlor® cartridge into the In-Line holder per your spa's instructions, then close the cap securely.
  5. Let it circulate. The system sanitizes as water flows through the cartridges during normal filtration cycles.
  6. Test with the included strips. Check sanitizer and pH a couple of times a week and after heavy use, adjusting as needed.
  7. Replace the SmartChlor® cartridge every 3–4 weeks depending on use.
  8. Replace the mineral cartridge every 4 months (or at your next water change).
  9. Shock monthly. Add a monthly oxidizing shock to keep water fresh and clear, following your shock product's label dosing.

Pro Tip: Follow the Label First— Always follow the instructions printed on your spa's manual and on the cartridge packaging — they take precedence over any general guidance. Spa size, bather load, and water source all affect how quickly cartridges are consumed.

Not sure if your spa has an In-Line port?Check the filter compartment area for a small dedicated cap labeled FROG or @ease. If you don't see one, your spa likely uses the floating system instead. Our team can help you confirm before you order — just reach out.

FROG® Brand FAQs

What makes FROG® different from regular chlorine or bromine?

FROG uses minerals as a first line of defense, which lets it sanitize with a much lower level of chlorine or bromine than traditional systems. Minerals and sanitizer work together to keep water clean two ways at once. The payoff for you is water that feels softer, has little to no chemical smell, and takes far less hands-on maintenance.

What is "Fresh Mineral Water®"?

It's FROG's term for the water its systems create: cleaner, clearer, softer, and easier to maintain. The minerals condition the water and help hold pH steady, while the reduced sanitizer level handles the rest — so you get sparkling water that's gentler on skin, hair, and swimwear than heavily chlorinated water.

Do FROG® cartridges really reduce how much chlorine I use?

Yes. Because the minerals do part of the sanitizing work, FROG® systems need significantly less chlorine or bromine to keep water clean. The @ease line with SmartChlor® Technology, for example, can use a fraction of the chlorine of a conventional hot tub program while still keeping the water properly sanitized.

How do the pre-filled cartridges work?

Each FROG® cartridge comes pre-filled with the right mineral or sanitizer formula — there's nothing to measure or mix. You simply drop or snap the cartridge into its holder or dispenser, set it, and let it do the work as water circulates. When a cartridge is spent, you swap in a fresh one. That's the "no mess, no guess, no stress" approach
FROG® is known for.

Will FROG® products work with my pool, hot tub, or swim spa?

FROG® makes systems for all three, in sizes ranging from small hot tubs to large in-ground pools, so there's almost always a fit. Some products are model-specific (for example, @ease cartridges sized for particular spa brands), so it's worth confirming the right version for your equipment. If you're unsure which FROG® product matches your setup, reach out and we'll help you pin it down.

How often do I replace the cartridges, and do I still need to shock?

Replacement timing depends on the product and your usage — mineral cartridges generally last for months, while sanitizer cartridges are swapped more often (the system's indicator tells you when). You'll still add a periodic shock to keep water freshly oxidized, but typically far less often than a fully manual program requires. Always follow the schedule printed on your specific product's packaging.

About Frog®

For more than 25 years, FROG® has been making pool, hot tub, and swim spa care dramatically simpler — without asking owners to compromise on water quality. Made by King Technology, FROG built its reputation on one patented idea: combine the natural cleaning power of minerals with a low, steady level of sanitizer, so your water stays clean using far less chlorine or bromine than traditional methods.

The result is what FROG calls Fresh Mineral Water® — water that's cleaner because it fights bacteria two ways (minerals plus a low level of sanitizer), clearer because balanced minerals help hold pH steady, and softer because those same minerals condition the water for a gentler feel on your skin. And it's easier, because nearly everything comes in pre-filled, drop-in cartridges. No measuring, no mess, no guesswork.

That convenience-first philosophy runs through the entire FROG lineup — from the SmartChlor®-powered @ease systems for hot tubs and swim spas, to the bromine-based Serene line, to the POOL FROG and Flippin' FROG systems for pools of every size, plus a full range of support chemicals and problem-solvers. Whatever you're sanitizing, there's a FROG product sized for it, and they're all built around the same goal: less time on maintenance, more time enjoying the water.
